Turkey, Colds and Vinegar Tea

Hey hey hey!! I have not posted in SO long. My apologies. But I have something fun I want to do for December! We all got a cold from my four-year-old cousin when they were here for Thanksgiving. My aunt told me about something that really helps a sore throat- Vinegar Tea.

                                                    RECIPE:

You will need: Hot water, apple cider vinegar, and honey.

Pour hot water into a mug, and add one and a half tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Add honey to taste. Stir well, and drink.

This helps SO much! I was shocked!

My aunt and uncle raised a few turkeys this year, and they brought one along for Thanksgiving.

Guess how much it weighed? Comment and guess! I'll comment and tell the answer after the twentieth comment!

It was delicious!! We also had mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, peas and carrots, sweet potato casserole, ribbon salad, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, mixed berry pie, and ice cream.

Wait..... It's September?!

Hello!!!! I feel like August just flew past! Do you? But August was, well, pretty unlucky for us.

First off, my brother had a poison ivy rash from head to toe. Then, we found a bullseye rash on his arm, and he was at the doctor three times. All this happened about two weeks ago.

Then, two weeks ago,Tuesday, August 26, my sister was scootering down the hill, and a car went past, and scared her. She tried to stop, but fell, and rammed her left arm into the ground and broke it. Daddy took her to Med Express, and they put it in a splint and a sling, and yesterday, she went to a specialist, and got a plaster cast.

On last Saturday, the baby..... did something, and no one knows what happened, but there's a huge gash in her tongue. Or was. It's almost better now.

Now, the climax. Monday morning, Daddy took me in to do blood work. Since we were in town anyway, we stopped at the library to pick up a DVD (Anne of Green Gables) that we had ordered. But. The DVD would not start. We tried for 30 minutes to get it to start, on the computer, the laptop, everywhere. Fine, I thought. I'll just make soft pretzels instead.

But this makes really small batches, so I made four batches, and that filled two cookie sheets. Anyway, I had about two pretzels left to shape, when I knocked a cup off the counter, and it shattered. I decided that I would quickly finish my pan of pretzels, and then clean it up. Well, you can probably guess what happened. I forgot that I had broken a cup, turned to wash my hands, and stepped into the mess. I cut my heel up pretty bad, and I'm not even going to put in a picture of my heel, because it looks so gross it's unbelievable. One of my friends almost threw up when I showed her the picture. I didn't walk till Wednesday, at least not without the help of my lovely crutches. It's pretty much better by now, but if I walk too much, it starts to hurt again.

Well, wish us luck. I'm just waiting for the house to burn down, or something. Bye!!

Hey guys. I have not posted in forever! Sorry about that! We started school on Monday. Why is it that the first day, you love school but the next 179 days are agony? It makes no sense!

I got a ukulele on Saturday, and have been plinking around the house all day ever since. I can play, "You Are My Sunshine," but that's about the extent of my repertoire ;)

I got new ink for my fountain pen. The second most satisfying sound in the world is the sound of a fountain pen scratching across paper...... Ahhhhh.

The most satisfying sound in the world is...... my typewriter!! I  have an old fashioned one, one you don't plug in or anything. I love it so much. There is only one problem. If you mess up, the only thing you can do is put X's across it.

My little sister does not know what to think of us doing school. Of course, she doesn't remember last year. She wasn't even one then. This morning, she just walked in circles around the house, and cranked. She fell of a chair, which added to her displeasure. She scribbled on our school work, and chewed an eraser off a pencil. We have those twisty erasers, and there was an extra one, and she got it. But that wasn't enough. Oh no. She HAD to have three of them in her hands, or she threw a major tantrum. She's so funny and cute and fat😍. She'll get used to us sitting around the table every morning. I hope.

In other news, I have been reading "The Witch of Blackbird Pond," by Elizabeth George Speare, and "Anne of Ingleside," by Lucy Maud Montgomery. The witch of blackbird pond is not about an actual witch; it's about a girl back in the 1700's. She could swim, so everybody thought she was a witch🙄. It's a really good book. And, of course, Anne of Ingleside is the sixth book in the Anne of Green Gables series.

Have you started school yet? Have you ever read The Witch of Blackbird Pond, or Anne of Ingleside? Have you ever written anything with a fountain pen or typewriter? Do you play any instruments? Comment below, and tell me!

My Favorite Things Tag!

Hey everybody! I haven't posted in a while, and I'm sorry, but now I'm back with a fun tag,

      Okay, here we go.

1. My Family. I love these people. I don't know how I'd manage without them!

2. My books. I could read for 5 hours straight, if I were allowed to (which I'm not).

3. Swimming. On a hot day, going back to the swimming hole in our creek has got to be the best thing ever!

4.S'mores. I love chocolate, I love marshmallows, I love graham crackers. And put together? SO delicious!

5. Fireflies. These twinkly little bugs are fun to try to catch!Fireflies | National Geographic

Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate | Recipe | Torani

7. My cousins.

8. Toddlers. I know some people like newborns best, because they can't do anything and/or get into trouble, but I like toddlers because they can talk to you. They can run and fetch things. They are SO cute😍 But they can also get into serious trouble with their walking and talking😉

And, wow! I'm done! Sorry I didn't put in more photos, the computer is acting up. Now, I nominate:

OK, that's it! I look forward to reading what your favorite things are, ladies!

My Life Recently

Hi!! How have you all been since my last post?! I am sorry to say that I did not receive enough stories to host a short story contest. *sighs* Sorry! I have also changed my blog background. I do a double-take every time I see it, but I love it. I won't be able to post very much this summer; we have a massive garden that needs tending (😒), and I am also being snared for lawn-mower duty more and more frequently- much against my will. But I'll try to post maybe twice a month (I know that's not a lot, but I have trouble thinking of posts. *sigh*) If you have any ideas for blog posts PLEASE, either email me with the "Email Me" form on the right sidebar, or comment on the latest post. If you would like me to add your blog to the blog list, also on the right sidebar, comment, or email, and I'll put it up there. Now I'll share a little bit of what I've been doing the past week or so. First, our library is still not open. But you can go on their website, and look up books, and if they have them, you can order them. Then they call you and set up a convenient to come and pick up your books. We did that, and yesterday we went to pick up our books. They had them on a table outside, in plastic bags with your name on them. Imagine our disappointment when we realised there was another bag that we forgot to get!!! We also went to a HUGE yard sale, where we found a bunch of books, and to a bookstore, where we got 37 Nancy Drew books for a great bargain, plus a bunch of classics. Then, we sat around and read all day long (Hey, we were rolling in books! It was a dream come true!). This morning we went to the park. That's where we've been having church lately. And then we went to Wendy's for lunch, and then came home to read some more! That's about the only thing that has happened lately that is of interest- getting FIFTY new books in one day. What have you been doing lately?  ~Caitlyn
